Question by purplesparklez: Is there such a thing as a real 1943 silver wheat penny? Are wheat pennies from 1934 to 1958 worth anything?
I recieved a wheat penny collection as a gift a long time ago. They are dated 1934 to 1958. The 1943 penny is silver colored. Is the silver penny real, or a fake? What are the other pennies worth?

Silver pennies ‘are’ real. For more information either pick up a copy of CoinWorld or go to the website PCGS and ask them as they are the premier grading service in the country in my humble opinion.

I’m pretty sure the penny is real – nickels from that year were made of silver to save copper for the war. The other pennies are not that valuable, i think; mostly they’re picked up by hoarders and kept. Try http://www.littletoncoin.com ; they might be able to answer your questions more accurately.
    Hope I helped

The 1943 is made out of zinc coated steel. Copper was needed for the war effort. There is no silver in it.A lot were made so it has little value unless in mint state. Sorry to say unless the coins are mint state they are not worth very much. You don’t have any of the rare dates. They are before 1934 or after 1958. There is a 1955 that has the date doubled on it, that is worth a sizable sum, but your chances of having one are slim. No harm in looking though.
