Question by tony: what US silver dollar coins were made 1900. I have one coin from 1900 and can't figure out the name of coin?
I have one coin from 1900 and can't figure out the name of the coin, It is a silver dollar. In front of coin it says liberty in god we trust and has the date 1900. And has a women standing up with her hand out. And in back of coin it says United states of America. 1 oz fine silver one dollar, I know for sure is is not a Morgan dollar.

Best answer:

Answer by jabbotuk
It sounds like a commemorative coin - legal tender but not standard issue - because standard issue would not bear the inscription "1 oz fine silver".

Question by tutock: I have several estados Unidos Mexicano coins from 1981-1998 what are they worth?
3 0 pesos 1985 gold in color
2 0 pesos 1984 gold in color
6 pesos 1985
2 pesos 1984
2 pesos 1985
4 pesos 1985
2 pesos 1985
3 pesos 1985
1 pesos 1998
and one 1981 diez pesos
Are they worth anything as far as converting them to US dollars or even to a coin collector??

Best answer:

Answer by redlemon65
In Dec. of 1994, the Mexican govt devaluated their money. All coins/currency that was minted/printed before that date became valueless after the conversion time expired. All of the coins listed that were minted before 1994 cannot be exchanged for USD and the 1998 2 peso coin is worth around 20 cents. The others are so common they aren't worth anything to a collector and they are not silver.

Question by Delvala: What is the value of a silver quarter from 1950?
I found a pure silver (or at least, I think it's mostly silver?) quarter dated to 1950. Someone told me that they stopped making quarters like that around 1965, so I figured my quarter may be worth something to collectors.
Anyone know what that approximate value may be, and how I would go about selling it to someone (besides eBay)?

Answer by gofetch29
only the silver value probably about a buck

Question by Gary D: How to identify authentic silver coins from 16th and 17th century?
So I'm interested in buying some Britannia silver coins from the 16th and 17th century, however I'm unsure how to identify through images whether the auctions are authentic. Are there tell tale signs which indicate that the coin is real or not?

Best answer:

Answer by liberty 911
I would never spend a large sum of money of an uncertified coin especially on a site like eBay. The link is a price guide for British coins, and it goes back quite a few years. I would say the best thing to do might be to study books and photos of the coins as well as the actual coins if you can find some. I hope that helps.

Question by 2keepucool: When did silver (pre-1965) coins disappear from circulation. Im curious, i wasn't born during that era.?
Did silver coins (dimes, quarters, half dollars) go away instantly the moment clad coins came out? Did silver coins remain in circulation for a few more years ie: 1966, 67, 68, 69? Im curious, i collected coins for nearly 12 years. I wasn't born during the 60's or even 70's. I just want to know :)

Answer by Al L
In the early 1970's the price of silver went to an all time high when Nixon took gold and silver off the money standard. A lot of people melted their silver coins and sold the silver.

Question by Chi L: Where do junk silver coins come from?
Where do the junk silver coins that can be bought from shops or online come from? How do they find bags of them to sell?

Best answer:

Answer by BD in NM
Junk silver coins are just well worn specimens. They came from the mint like all other US coins but they have been well used by people and have little or no collector value. The mint made millions of these coins each year up to 1964. Then when they quit making 90% silver coinage in 1965 people started hoarding the older pieces. As time goes by people started gathering a small bunch here and a small bunch there ... now you have bags you can sell.

Question by Matt: Ok i found a ton of coins from different places. Can anyone tell me there worth in U.S. dollars?
Here they are...
Republica Argentina 100 pesos 1979 (3)
10 Francs 1979
Republica Italiana 100 lire 1979
Republica de Panama Vn Cvarto De Balboa 1979
Republica Dominicana Diez Centavos 1987
Republicca de Columbia 100 pesos
Republica Italiana L.1 1950
Republica Italiana 200 lire 1978
Brazil 10 centavos
Republica NG Pilipinas 1 piso 1995

Best answer:

Answer by liberty 911
There are seven places with a 1979 - 10 Francs coin: Belgium, Central African States, France, French Polynesia, Luxembourg, New Caledonia, West African States, and it would be helpful to know which place yours is from. Also the first link below has values for world coins.

Here is what you have:
1979 Argentina 100 Pesos (3) [There are two types.]
1979 ???????? 10 Francs
1979 Italy 100 Lire [There are two types.]
1979 Panama 1/4 Balboa
1987 Dominican Republic 10 Centavos
???? Columbia 100 Pesos
1950 Italy 1 Lira
1978 Italy 200 Lire
???? Brazil 10 Centavos
1995 Philippines 1 Piso

None of these coins is worth all that much. The 1950 Italian 1 Lira is worth at least US if like new, but the rest likely retail for .50US to .50US each. Please check the links for more information.

on the back of this coin it has a name and number
diego ricardo or ricando
16-111-91

Best answer:

Answer by Taiping
Some one made it into a token of some kind, it might be a name and the numbers could mean all most anything. It has no value as a collectible. It is considered a damaged coin. Even if it was not damaged dealers sell them for .25 in their world coin boxes. You may never find out why it was made or by whom.
