Question by Jmac6725: I have some old Mexican pesos. Do they have any value?
I have a bunch of old pesos, can I exchange them for US dollars? If so, how much?

They were discontinued in 1993. Thgey have had no value since the time to exchange them passed, and that was a long time ago. At the time of the change one dollar was worth more than 3,000 pesos.

I was hoping a coin buff could tell me if this coin is worth anything. It is a 2000 peso coin. It has "ano" inscribed on it instead of "diez pesos" . There is an aztec sun on one of its sides and an eagle holding a snake. Thank you in advance  .

You'd have to take them to a coin collector and have them appraised as to their condition and mint marks. You can't get that information from here without more facts about the coins.

on the front says: cinco pesos, 30 gramos ley 0.900.m 1948
back says: estados unidos mexicanos.
basically, it is a 1948 coin of 30 grams pure silver.
also, based on an answer i received , ... i'm not just asking the value of silver - that's a set market value. i mean the value of this as a collectible. it's much more valuable than the price of the silver. i also have an Olympic year one, th eyear the Olympics was in mexico city.

Depending where you go will determine the price. If it says 0.900 it is not pure silver and does have a slight amount of other metal. Right now an ounce is worth about .00. Convert 1 ounce to grams and you should be close to actual cost of the silver, but the coin in good condition may or may not bring you more $$$

A 1948 Mexican 5 Pesos contains 0.8681 troy ounces of silver which is currently worth about US, and the coin is worth only slightly more than that. 1987 Mexican 50 Pesos is only worth US even if like new. These are retail prices, and a coin dealer would pay wholesale prices. The Mexican Peso was devalued in 1993, so the coins would be worthless as currency if you tried to spend them in Mexico today. Yes it is, I am Mexican but i live in the U.S. and the coins range from 20 cents- to 20 pesos, so if u have a coin its smaller than 20 pesos.

When going through my grandmother's stuff after her passing we came across 2 Chihuahua mexican pesos bills circulated in 1915. One is a 20 pesos and the other is a 5. On the top they say El Estado De Chihuahua. We were just curious as to their current value if any. Any one have a clue?

The only thing that will have pictures and values would probably be a book of world coins, specifically on North American coins by Krause Publications. Or specific to the American coins, you can get a red book by Whitman Publications. A few sites I can share with you will have pictures, or the price of the metal content of the coin, as opposed to the collectible value. The only way to see as close as the collectible value, that I know would be to just go on ebay, because it truly reflects the prices people are willing to pay for the coin. Other than that I will list the sites I have mentioned in the sources below. I Hope they help you out.
