There are seven places with a 1979 - 10 Francs coin: Belgium, Central African States, France, French Polynesia, Luxembourg, New Caledonia, West African States, and it would be helpful to know which place yours is from. Also the first link below has values for world coins.

Here is what you have:
1979 Argentina 100 Pesos (3) [There are two types.]
1979 ???????? 10 Francs
1979 Italy 100 Lire [There are two types.]
1979 Panama 1/4 Balboa
1987 Dominican Republic 10 Centavos
???? Columbia 100 Pesos
1950 Italy 1 Lira
1978 Italy 200 Lire
???? Brazil 10 Centavos
1995 Philippines 1 Piso

None of these coins is worth all that much. The 1950 Italian 1 Lira is worth at least US if like new, but the rest likely retail for .50US to .50US each. Please check the links for more information.

Question by Beth: Any good places to find or buy junk silver coins?
I'm looking for junk silver in quarters, dimes, and copper pennies. Here's some places I have already and let me know if you have other suggestions, thanks.

Well, what are you looking to pay, face value or the going rate?

For face value, you can try going through your change or sorting through bank rolls. This isn't going to yield much. With high prices back in the news again like 1980-91, the average person is paying a lot more attention to their change. Sorting of bank rolls has picked up.

Unless you own the laundromat. good luck finding an ignorant owner who doesn't know about silver coins.

As for collectors, they expect to get near 'melt'. Websites charge a premium above 'melt'.

So, what are you willing to pay? I'd be happy to unload my stash of 'junk' silver for an ounce.

Question by Adel: Where are good places to look for silver coins?
It seems like silver quarters/dimes are almost impossible to find in circulation these days. Do you think that looking through quarter rolls from banks is worth it? Is it possible that someone working in the bank can actually filter out the silver coins, making it impossible to find any in the rolls? I'm an amateur numismatist, and so far I've found only 1 silver quarter in high school (about 6 years ago) from 1943 and my brother came across a '64 recently and gave it to me. And the other day I found a silver dime from '47 in a roll-it sounds nice when you drop it on a countertop. I'd like to collect more, and don't have deep pockets to buy them from eBay, coin dealers, etc. What I want is to find them in circulation or anywhere or at face value - and please don't reply to tell me that's impossible, too bad, etc., because I do understand that most of these coins have been hoarded before I was born.
