Question by Soul2Sole: what would be the tone or imagery in this poem, im having mixed ideas about it?
FOUR GLIMPSES OF NIGHT

I
Eagerly
Like a woman hurrying to her lover
Night comes to the room of the world
And lies, yielding and content
Against the cool round face
Of the moon.

2
Night is a curious child, wandering
Between earth and sky, creeping
In windows and doors, daubing
The entire neighborhood
With purple paint.
Day
Is an apologetic mother
Cloth in hand
Following after.

3
Peddling
From door to door
Night sells
Black bags of peppermint stars
Heaping cones of vanilla moon
Until
His wares are gone
Then shuffles homeward
Jingling the gray coins
Of daybreak.

4
Night's brittle song, silver-thin,
Shatters into a billion fragments
Of quiet shadows
At the blaring jazz
Of a morning sun.

I find the imagery very pleasing. The tone is varied and interesting. Mostly muted tones until the last two lines which woke me up. A very good portrait of Night.

Question by spcexcel: how much is this 1948 Mexican coin worth?
on the front says: cinco pesos, 30 gramos ley 0.900.m 1948

back says: estados unidos mexicanos.

basically, it is a 1948 coin of 30 grams pure silver.
also, based on an answer i received , ... i'm not just asking the value of silver - that's a set market value. i mean the value of this as a collectible. it's much more valuable than the price of the silver. i also have an Olympic year one, th eyear the Olympics was in mexico city.

Best answer:

Answer by response2debt
Depending where you go will determine the price. If it says 0.900 it is not pure silver and does have a slight amount of other metal. Right now an ounce is worth about .00. Convert 1 ounce to grams and you should be close to actual cost of the silver, but the coin in good condition may or may not bring you more $$$

Question by LIVExINxLOVE: would you read? is this stupid? does it make sense? can you see the scene?
Grandma’s basement was ancient, dark, dank, and filled with who knows (or wants to) what. Boxes, trunks, and bins of every size and shape were scattered across the floor, lining the walls, and towering from to the ceiling. It was exactly four days after Grandma’s funeral and mom was devastated. She couldn’t even walk into Grandma’s house, let alone sort through all her junk, so that job was left up to me. My directions exactly: “Sort out her stuff: keep, sell, throw away.” How I was possibly supposed to discern what was worth selling and what needed to be kept, I have no clue. Looking back, it probably all should have been thrown away, but nowadays details like that are irrelevant.
I had been sifting through Grandma’s mountains of gadgets when I came upon that one fateful pouch. It was made of the purest velvet hands could feel, royal purple all around with a silk drawstring. It was clearly important. I was just about to toss it over my shoulder into the steadily growing “sell” pile when something caught my eye. A sliver of dancing silver light escaped the bag, thrown across the wall for a split second before it disappeared. I blinked, rubbed my eyes, and slowly reached out, my tentative fingers struggling to hook the thin drawstring between them.
There, sitting in the sack, was nothing but a little black box. I grasped for a lid to find hinges and a latch. I snapped it open to reveal yet another, smaller pouch. For a moment I thought it was just a bag full of boxes and more bags, but I’m never that lucky. My shaking fingers clumsily tugged at the caught zipper, finally releasing it with an extra hard yank. The bag flew from my hands, it’s quick descent intercepted by the far wall. It landed hard and a chunky gold chain slipped out, dragging with it a large oval-shaped pendant. I fumbled with the charm for a few seconds and discovered a clasp, which I opened without hesitation. Maybe that was my mistake.
The basement disappeared around me and I was landed lightly, feet first in what looked like a dungeon (I wouldn’t know, I’ve never actually seen one.) Lofty, circular stonewalls stretched up beyond my line of vision into a world of unknown.
“Laurie! You have kept me waiting longer than I expected… four days it has been. Four days I have waited for you.” It was then that I noticed the dainty chair at the far side of the room; it’s high back had been facing me.
“I-I-I’m n-not Laurie. I’m Mandy.” I stuttered for the first time in my life that day. What was wrong with me? Her voice wasn’t even all that scary. If only I had had my gift back then…
“Mandy?” The voice was sharp now, harsh.
“Yes.” It wasn’t a question. Yes, I am Mandy. Not Laurie, not mom.
“WHAT?” It was her turn to be caught off guard. The chair spun around with an unpleasant screeching noise, revealing perhaps the most stunning creature I’d ever laid eyes on. She looked about sixteen years old. She had long, auburn hair that flowed graciously down her elegant back in loose curls. Her eyes were green like a burst of springtime in this deathly place; her lips were full and pink, like a freshly blossomed rose. Her beauty was stunning, and it was all I could do to keep my pathetic jaw from dropping. “Who are you?” She sneered at me, disfiguring her flawless face.
“Mandy Kline, I just told you! How many more times should I say it?” My rush of sarcasm probably wasn’t a good idea, but the one thing I hate most in the world is repeating myself.
“Where is Laurie? She is supposed to be the one to discover the locket! Many years I have waited for this day, yet still she eludes me. I want that aura!” The woman’s eyes morphed from pleasant green to gold, then faded into a deep maroon. I can still remember the taste of copper rising in my throat at the sight of her eyes, the nausea that had overwhelmed me so completely.
“Grandma was her best friend. When she died, Mom got lost in herself. She can’t do anything but cru these days. When her tears dry out, she just wanders around, searching for something to fill the hole in her heart.” When did I become a poet? There was something about this girl that made me want to be her friend. My gut told me it was an awful idea, but something about her made me open up to her, even though she was a complete stranger.
“You’re Laurie’s daughter, are you?” Her tone immediately softened and her eyes returned to the luscious green. “Well then, I suppose you would do for a substitute. It’s worth a try, since you’re already here,” She said, more to herself then to me. I recall the panic, the urge to run, the realization that I couldn’t get away, and even if I could, I’d be lost. I backed into the wall, gripping the stones for my life. “Calm yourself, Mandy It won’t hurt a bit!”
“What won’t hurt? What are you doing to me? Who are you?”
“Call me Chloe.” Before I could even think to dodge her, Chloe was before me. She projected her left palm, and I noticed the slash of a scar across the tip of her index finger. A

Best answer:

Answer by Taiping
Some one made it into a token of some kind, it might be a name and the numbers could mean all most anything. It has no value as a collectible. It is considered a damaged coin. Even if it was not damaged dealers sell them for .25 in their world coin boxes. You may never find out why it was made or by whom.

This is an sealed bag. is it worth more sealed or more by individual coins?

Good question, but since the bag is sealed...by whom was it sealed...the maker...some random person. I would consider not opening it until you find an expert. Probably not in Yahoo! Answers...best of luck.

Question by Ducks_08: What is this coin worth?
It is a silver coin, larger than a US 50 cent piece. It has one dollar written on the head side, and has picture of a woman with a trident and a shield with an outline of the british union jack flag on it. There is a ship in the background. On the tails side there is some arabic writing, as well as some asian characters.
It also has a date of 1925
I was wondering what the coin was too if anyone knows

Best answer:

Answer by Cowboy Rance
You need to take it to a coin dealer to have it appraised. How old, the condition, and other factors play in the value of coins. You could have two coins the same and they could be worth two different amount just on condition alone.
